The Curriculum
Maximum class sizes of 20 ensure all our girls receive the individual support and attention that is so important at this level of education.
In Years 7 to 9, our girls experience a wide range of subjects including two modern languages, so that they can make informed decisions when choosing their GCSE options. We encourage our pupils to choose a balanced programme of study at GCSE from our extensive range of subjects.
Exam Results
GCSE results are consistently high, with our Value Added results showing that girls gain on average 1.37 grades higher than those of pupils with similar ability in similar schools.
In 2009, 94% of our girls gained 5+ GCSEs A*-C (81% of girls achieved 5+ GCSEs A*-C including maths and English). Our GCSE results made us one of the Top 5 schools in Norfolk in 2009. See exam results for further information.
Our Girls' Development
Although emphasis is placed on fulfilling academic potential, at Hethersett Old Hall School we recognise that education extends beyond this and that our pupils need to develop on a broad front.
We believe it is important that our girls develop the self discipline necessary for success in later life. As a result confidence grows and the girls develop a sense of responsibility, which allows them to contribute to the school community as a whole.
The Senior School curriculum offers a variety of challenging opportunities and activities both in and outside the classroom. Examples of extra-curricular activities include our Senior School drama production which takes place at the Norwich Playhouse. The school has gained a reputation for the high standard and professionalism of its young actors. In addition, the vast majority of girls participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, a significant number going on to complete the Gold Award in the Sixth Form. See our Photo Gallery for illustrations of the senior school in action!
"...we are so pleased that we chose this school....we chose this one because it just felt right. Every girl shines and their talents recognised. Results are fantastic." Parent of Senior School Pupil
