Pre-prep Department

Age 4 to 7

Lower Prep, Middle Prep, Upper Prep

The first experience of school must be a positive and enjoyable one. The very important ‘first lessons’ will involve learning to respect each other, how to work in a group and how to interact with adults. At this age it is vital that the desire to learn is nurtured; our approach allows understanding of new concepts to develop through investigation, exploration and, above all, play.

Children are grouped according to age and our commitment to maintaining small class sizes means classes of no more than 15 and pupils receive individual attention according to their needs.

Pupils are taught in secure, purpose built facilities within Hethersett Old Hall School’s walled garden, which includes a well equipped play area, and pupils enjoy all the facilities on site including swimming pool, tennis courts, drama and music rooms and large sports hall.

Children of this age are very receptive and learn in many different ways; we aim to provide a balanced programme which includes one-to-one tuition, creative play and working in a team. Our pupils even receive an informal introduction to a foreign language. See Pre-Prep Work.

Hethersett Old Hall School is registered for the Early Years Funding Scheme, is a registered carer with the Busy Bees and Care-4 schemes and will accept childcare vouchers. See www.busybees.com or www.care-4.co.uk for more information.

Pupils are admitted into Lower Prep at the age of 4. Class sizes are limited so early application is strongly advised. See admissions.
