Sports Link With Framingham Earl Announced
Since the Government introduced Specialist School Status in 1997, four of our local high schools have gained Sports Status. The aim of these specialist schools is to raise the standard of achievement in PE and sport for all students across the ability range and support the Government's aspirations for all young people to have two hours high quality PE per week within the curriculum.
Each specialist school develops partnerships with local high schools, who in turn improve links with their feeder schools. This involves PE trained teachers from secondary schools teaching lessons within the feeder schools. The result of this system is increased opportunities for festivals and competitions amongst younger pupils, often using High School Sport's Leaders to organise and officiate.
A link between Framingham Earl High School and ourselves has been approved by the The Youth Sports Trust, so that HOHS can now get much more involved with their activities and events as well as continue to participate in the leagues we currently play in.
This link is vital as it will help us build upon the great sport that we already do here and help us ensure that we not only reach the recommended two hours curriculum PE a week for all pupils, but reach the additional three hours school or community based sport now suggested by the Government!
