International Pupil Admissions
We know that choosing a boarding school for your child can be a difficult and emotional process, particularly when that school is not in your home country.
If you are considering sending your daughter to Hethersett Old Hall School to board, please contact our Admissions Secretary Mrs Kim Borrer in the first instance on +44 (0) 1603 810390 or email enquiries@hohs.co.uk. Mrs Borrer will be happy to answer all your questions about the school, boarding and our boarding facilities.
In addition, Mr Crump our Headmaster is always happy to answer any questions which you may have about the suitability of the education, ESOL programmes and examinations we offer for international students as well as GCSEs and A Levels.

The Process for International Admissions
Step One: Registration
Once you have decided Hethersett Old Hall School is the right school for your daughter, you need to complete a registration application form, which will automatically register your child for a place at the school. Please send, fax or email:
- the registration application form (PDF)
- a recent photo and
- a £50 registration fee (cheque or bank transfer)
to Mrs Kim Borrer, Admissions Secretary. You can either download and complete a registration application form (PDF) or there is a registration application form in the back of the school prospectus if you have received one. Call Mrs Borrer on +44 (0)1603 810390 who will be happy to send or fax you a hard copy.
You will also need to ensure that visa arrangements allowing your daughter to study in the UK are in place. For further information visit the Home Office website.
Step Two: References and Entrance Assessments
Once your application has been received we will contact you to get a copy of your daughter's most recent school report and a reference from their school.
Your daughter will need to take our Entrance Assessments, which we can send via post, email or fax. Our Entrance Assessments are designed to give our staff an indication of your daughter's stage of development, so that an appropriate programme of study can be arranged. The assessments focus on Maths and English. We would normally ask for a minimum of the Cambridge ESOL Preliminary English Test (PET) or equivalent for entry onto our GCSE and A level courses.
Visit ESOL and International Students for further information.
Step Three: Outcome of Entrance Assessments
Our Admissions Secretary will inform you of the outcome of the assessments. Our formal offer letter includes our terms and conditions and a copy of our Entrance Form for International Students. Alternatively download our Entrance Form for International Students (PDF).
Receipt of the Entrance Form and a £1000 deposit (which is repayable at the end of your daughter's last term in the school), ensures your child's place at our school. You will then be sent a full information pack including fee details, uniform list, medical forms etc.
N.B. Guardians
Please note, all international students must have a guardian in the UK. The guardian is responsible for arranging transport to and from school at the beginning and end of term, and arranging accommodation and transport during exeat weekends. Guardians will also be the main point of contact with the school during term time.
Due to the fact that guardianship contracts must be signed between parents and the guardianship provider, Hethersett Old Hall School cannot arrange this service for students. We are happy to recommend guardianship agencies to parents.
Once all these steps have been undertaken, and a valid visa is in place, your daughter will be ready to start.
