Ofsted Boarding Report. 24 February 2010.

OFSTED visited the school in early December to inspect our boarding provision and the subsequent glowing report has just been published on their website.

Our inspector was most impressed by all that we offer our boarders - our strict security certainly made an impression when she found herself trapped safely in the courtyard one night!

Boarding schools are subject nowadays to reams of government regulation so we were delighted that all of our paperwork and procedures, designed to keep our pupils happy and safe, passed muster and the report states ‘there are clear policies and procedures in place relating to the safeguarding of boarders'.

Some of the nicest comments in the report relate to our unique family atmosphere and how we function as a community - we couldn't better the words used in the report - ‘The school values boarding and invests in the development of a unique approach which puts the child's experience both now, and for their future life, at its heart'.

The report also has praise for the comfortable, attractive dormitories and bedrooms the friendly and approachable staff and the good behaviour and friendly nature of the girls. As our boarding community continues to grow in size and diversity we can feel well pleased that the superb qualities of our staff and girls have been so clearly recognised.

As one final quote from the report states:
‘The school is an inclusive community in which all boarders feel safe and valued' - we wholeheartedly concur and thank OFSTED for recognising so clearly the benefits of boarding at HOHS.
