Large increase in A Grades at GCSE! 27 August 2009

The school is celebrating a huge increase in the top GCSE grades today.

The previous record for the number of A and A* grades was set in 2006, when just over one third of Year 11 got the highest grades. This has been smashed today, with over half of all grades awarded this year being at A/A* - an amazing improvement.

Headmaster Stephen Crump said:

‘We are thrilled for the girls and this amazing achievement is down to their hard work - but they wouldn't have done it, of course, without the superb professionalism and high quality teaching of the staff. The school prides itself on doing the very best for all of our pupils and the results today mark a real high point in our academic achievement. I congratulate everybody'

Just under 95% of Year 11 girls achieved five or more passes at grade C or above - way above the maintained sector average and one of the best results in the county.
